Inspired by our collective Catholic Faith, the presented artwork features a hand holding up the cross up to the sky, giving importance to the teachings of Jesus Christ. The hand also shows the use of the Rosary Beads. They are the symbol that allows us to encounter Mary, to rise up in our faith, and to enter the mysteries of Christ. The Maltese Flag and the text 'Maltese Pilgrims' are a depiction of where we will be coming from during World Youth Day 2023.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Phillippians 4:13 So many paths, which should I take ? Perspective, the fear of the unknown future. The further away, the less you see. The paths, in the sidelines ? , the stairs to below ? God I wanna see where I’m going, just trust in me, and do all things through me.

This minimalistic sketch encapsulates a Maltese Luzzu as the veil of Mama Mary, which is the focus point of this year's world youth day. The flowers sketched onto the Luzzu/veil show both the designs which feature on a traditional luzzu, as well as continue to add to the femininity of Mama Mary, adding to the symbols which signify her as well. The added Halo is a last touch to this sketch in order to show that this is our Holy Mother.

A modern sketch drawn freehand with a black marker on white card. The main focus is the figure Mary, who is portrayed arising and walking with haste. Her flowing drapery and veil, as well as her feet in motion, communicate the idea of walking in haste, which is the main theme of World Youth Day 2023. The figure blends in and forms part of the Maltese cross, the simplest and most recognizable element of the Maltese culture. The word 'Malta' is also added, but I think the symbol is enough.

My artwork gives a taste of our identity by featuring Ta' Pinu Sanctuary and the three hills beneath. The two figures represent the Virgin Mary and St Elizabeth symbolising this WYD's theme. They are standing on the traditional 8-pointed cross and are portrayed in a simple yet figurative manner. The acronyms and the year 2023 can be found at the bottom of the artwork. Only the outline shall be printed using white colour. The rest shall be left as is.

EG: In this minimalist illustration I combined the silhouettes of the Lisbon Jerónimos Monastery and traditional Portuguese buildings with a silhouette of the Valletta skyline and a Maltese building with traditional balconies. Central to this graphic one can observe the holy cross acting as a symbol of unity and faith which bonds both cultures together.-Lee Gatt :Salesian Oratory Dingli.

This designed was chosen to incorporate a cross, a butterfly and a snake. The snake is to represent the Maltese islands; to represent the snake that bit St. Paul when he first came to Malta, this allowed the people of Malta to trust him and cement our faith in Chrisianity. The butterfly is there to communicate the theme of WYD. This is to mean that akin to how a butterfly travels from flower to flower spreading pollen, we too should say ‘yes’ to God and share the news of the Lord.

This artwork is in digital form. Based on the original design, which I submitted the day before, it shows Ta' Pinu Shrine, and the 3 hills beneath it in a colourful way. The figures are expressive, portraying joy and representing the Virgin Mary and St Elizabeth. The acronym WYD and the year are written in an interesting font, not too rigid but quite youthful. The colours have been carefully selected, making sure that they look best on all shirts.

The artwork is done in a modern minimalistic design to appeal to youths and compete with modern logos The sun and sea represent the Maltese island's surroundings with the cross representing Malta being a Christian country The semi-circle can be also viewed as a Eucharist The different horizontal lines represent the different youth groups in light of the Sun / Eucharist
